The Story:
Gemma lives with his grandfather on a farm in the middle of nowhere. After a short visit by her mother, Gemma takes a bus to live together with her mother...
She fells in love for the first time with the mentally impaired Rory...
But she has to learn that live seldom goes like it's laid out in the bible...and she makes her first big mistake...
As she is not ready for live in the big city, with all it's negative sides, she returns to her grandpa...but she decides to learn the guitar in the nearby small town...to learn live with small steps...
My Opinion:
A very interesting but not easy to watch movie about a girl who has grown up only with her grandfather. As she enters "real life" she nearly breaks while living it.
In the middle the movie gets a little too slow...but Winona and everyone of the cast does great acting...a very good starring debut by Winona.
For me as european this movie also is an interesting insight into live in the "Southern States" of the US.
