The Story:
Winona Ryder will star as Lois Wilson – wife of Bill Wilson with whom she founded Al-Anon in the United States.
According to the beautiful promotion pictures Winona will play her role thru a long range of years - starting in the mid-20s and ending in the early-40s. I really love that as it shows Winona incredible range. It was only done once before in House Of Spirits were she started as teen and ended as young mother. Plus: Can't wait to see Winona as 1920s biker-chick.
CBS will produce with Hallmark and E1 Entertainment as executive production companies. Movie will be shown in the US on CBS as Hallmark Wall Of Fame movie. E1 will handle international distribution – E1 has it's own cinema and DVD distribution in Canada and Europe but so far nothing is known as how they will release it in these areas.
Quite a gamble for Winona to do a TV-movie – but I'm just glad she's having a lead role again and the story synopsis sounds really promising. Plus: Square Dance was also produced as a TV-movie and got a limited theatrical release afterwards.
My Opinion:
A great story with great acting by both lead actors. Winona truely great as Lois Wilson showing precisly and warmly Lois' desperation but also deep love. Barry getting wonderfully all the different levels of beeing drunk.
While beeing hard at times and at long passages not a happy-feel-good movie but in the end a movie devoted to the power of love and sticking together in hard times. Hopefully Winona will be nominated for her great performance for an Emmy award.

Critics opinion
She
is perfect for the part -- fragile but strong, attractive but not
beautiful, loving but not blind. All of the nuances of Lois'
personality are played to perfection by Ryder.
Huffington
Post
Ryder,
Pepper and the supporting cast are fine, if never too-deeply drawn;
during the course of their years together, Lois puts up with about
110% more garbage than a modern woman would today.

But
it's Winona Ryder--yes, that Winona, who makes this
film.
fredericksburg.com
Ryder's
huge brown - almost black - eyes still have their power, and she
displays the stunning mix of tenderness and grit that earned her
Oscar nominations in two old-timey films, Age of Innocence (best
supporting actress) and Little Women (best actress).
