The Story:
John helps the mysterious Patty and hides her in his dorm. As he knows nothing about her, it's clear she has a secret.
John starts a romantic relationship with Patty and tries to find out what happend to her...
My Opinion:
The only Noni movie I regulary watch the clock to see how long it will still run. This movie would've deserved the subtitle "In Search of a Story", after watching it I still can't figure out what the writer and director want to tell me...
The only funny scene is, when Patty and John are escaping their lives (and the movie...) into the elevator at the police station...
I think it may had been a better movie if it would start with the police station scene...let all those kids'n'school stuff away and just concentrate on John and Patty on the run...in a road-movie called "On the Run" – and during the last weeks I've made a story premise out of my idea – with pictures from the movie...
Noni plays bravely through this weird script...but even she can't save it...
Acording to Noni the script has been massively altered after she had signed to play the part of Patty...she has no way to get out of it...
James LeGros will act great some years later in Ally McBeal...
Twenty Minutes – The short story that somehow became Boys
I lately read Twenty Minutes and it has nearly nothing in commong with the movie that was made out of it.
In Twenty Minutes Jane Vare has a terrible accident riding her horse: she's catapulted over her horse and the animal lands hard in her lap, crushing her body badly. Still concious but unable to move she clings to life and remembers her life. Her marriage, her divorce, her affairs. In the end Jane is found but it's too late....
I think you could've turned this into a wonderful episodic movie with Winona playing the lead in all episodes. You could've even brought Lukas Haas in as a young men she fells in love with at the country fair – I like the scenes on the fair and the carousel quite much. And even if killing Winona's character might be tough, you could've Lukas found her and then in the last scene rushing her away in his car – keeping it open if she survives or not.
