Story:

New York in the late 19^th century. The society is ruled by status and gossip...

The young lawyer Newland Archer is proposed to the beautiful but creativeless May Welland. He's intoduced to to Ellen Olenska, a relative of May, who is the exact opposite. He falls in love with Ellen, but they can only live their love in secret.

And because of his status he can't break his realtionship with May, who turns out to have cruel side...

My Opinion:

The first time I liked Age Of Innocence was when I watched it in the original english, the dubbed version could at no point carry the atmosphere and duality of the characters.

Especially Winona is great as the nice and beautiful but also cold as ice. Winona got a Golden Globe for her performance.
